Boxelder Basin

I'm looking for just the right person!  Are you this person?

You've had a diagnosis of cancer, you've probably had surgery, and you may have had some chemo or radiation.  For some reason your inner voice is telling you not to do (more) chemo/radiation, that it's not the right thing for you just now.  Or perhaps you've finished your medical treatments and want to insure your survival as much as you can.

People have been telling you about all kinds of alternative cancer treatments.  You've seen books about other treatments, and there are treatment centers advertised on television.  Your doctor thinks you need (more) chemo to be sure he's gotten all the stray cells, and he may think alternative treatments are dangerous.  You're not sure what to do, but you've noticed that many of the alternative cancer treatments mention diet as an important factor in healing and cancer prevention.

If you fit this picture, you're just where I was in August, 1996, more than three years ago! Wanting to do no harm to myself - including chemotherapy of any sort - I set out to learn as much as I could. I gave my body a chance to heal from the lifesaving surgery.  Then I set out to strengthen my immune system so I could get rid of those "stray cells" naturally.  I wanted to build a life for myself based on health instead of disease. I have been cancer-free for three years: my CA 125 tests have consistently been below 10.

Although I'm working on a book which tells my story (The ABC's of Living Without Cancer), I want to share my wealth of knowledge with others on a more personal, individualized basis. I want to find someone to loan my books to for her/his own research, to give shopping and cooking lessons to, to do meditation, intentional breathing, and yoga with, and to walk with through the natural habitat surrounding my home. I'm looking for someone I can counsel about fears and inspire with my success. I'd like the cancer patient to stay with me for a week, bringing the spouse or other support person if desired; they need time away, too, and would be included in activities and counseling.

Besides discovery, learning, sharing and doing, there would be time for personal exploration, not only of my house and grounds, but of local attractions.  We are located south of Flemington, New Jersey, about 10 miles from the Delaware River, and there are many interesting things to see within a short driving distance. You'd each have your own room and bath, and access to a spacious house with a large farm kitchen, playroom, and living room with woodstove. Grounds are maintained in a minimal way to emphasize the parklike beauty of the area - a small natural basin that includes wetlands, a pond (yes, bring your fishing pole), a large variety of trees, small flower and vegetable gardens, and a long tree-lined drive with a special resting spot.

Cost for a week is $900 each.  This includes private room, nutritious home-cooked vegan meals, materials, activities, and individualized attention for both you and your support person (I've been the wife of a cancer patient as well as a cancer patient myself).

"Healing is an individual process, one closely linked to our building and maintaining our personal power," says Melanie Zucker in Women Confront Cancer.  My flexible, easy-going program provides a positive supportive atmosphere for healing and learning, giving you the opportunity to choose your own path and thereby begin to build your own personal power. Let me help you.
