Vegetarian Cooking
Class
and Dinner
|
Hands-on cooking classes are held periodically at Boxelder Basin
Wellness Retreat. The event starts with a house tour (former home of Sylvia
Sidney, star of stage and screen). Then everyone gets involved in
chopping vegetables and listening to Sally Miller answer questions on
healthy cooking. Topics covered vary from time to time but include cooking
with fat (what kind? what temperature?); the importance of green salads
and water consumption; protein content of vegetables; raw versus cooked
food; acid/alkaline food; handwashing and germs.
Every dinner includes a hot entree prepared
by the class, a salad bar, beverage, and light dessert. Informational
handouts are available to take home. Cost of the 4-hour event is $40 and
includes instruction, meal, written material, and a short introduction
to meditation. Please call 908.782.7101 for next class dates.
Visit Good Eats at
Sally's for a recipe that has been used in the classes.
